Listen to you all!! I am sure this song was never meant to better a great song, indeed if my memory serves me well it was a tribute to the great man himself and a great song. This is a fantastic version in its own right and should be taken on its own merits and not compared.... although I can see it is easy to do so. Ferry is a master of his own era and it is in my view wrong to draw any comparison with Lennon. Take both songs as they come and I am sure you will take great pleasure from each.
